PPS Classic / PPS Pro

The Perpetual Preservation System, or PPS, uses daily fertiliser doses, including nitrate, phosphate and trace elements. The Aquatic Plant Central PPS forum has discussions from people who use these methods.

The two approaches are described as follows:

• PPS-Classic: regular water testing, weekly or monthly, is used to adjust dosing. Water changes are presented as optional.
• PPS-Pro: a simpler daily dosing routine, presented without routine nutrient testing and with optional water changes.

We have reservations about routines with little or no water replacement. We recommend keeping regular water changes as part of aquarium maintenance.
