Laterite
Tropical laterite is an iron-rich clay used in planted aquarium substrates. It can hold nutrients and trace elements and make them available to plant roots.
Laterite supplies iron, an important trace element for aquatic plants. It can also bind phosphate. Use it with our loam as part of a planted aquarium substrate.

Sprinkle a thin layer of laterite over the bottom when starting your aquarium, before adding the top soil layer. As a guide, 100 grams is sufficient for an aquarium of 100 litres.
You can also mix laterite with loam and use it to make clay balls and place them in the soil a few times a year for plants that mainly receive their nutrition through the roots.
